February 4, 2011I just borrowed a friends duramax 4x4 dually to pick up a truck I bought in Va. From Virginia to South Jersey pulling a 3 axle equiptment trailer with a 55 chevy pick up on it I averaged 21 mpg. @ 70-75 mph on the highway. and could not tell I was towing anything. It was heaven. I was ready to leave with my 01 silverado and car trailer and he talked me into using his truck. It was incredible. if and when I can afford to buy a new truck, thats what I`m getting. My neighbor has a new ford diesel and cant get better than 17 on the highway. The duramax is the way to go.
DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT !!!
February 5, 2011They do pretty good diesels way better. My dads got a 03 cummins 4x4 with a 7 inch lift pushing 37"s and averages 20 he can however get 25 all why at about 70. He averaged 15 towing a 24ft enclosed packed with tool box a crap ton of tools And a bunch of furiture etc.. Only people with duramaxs I know are lifted and they average 16-18 but can get as high as 20
Also a programmer does wonders
April 4, 2011I just got mine a week ago. I have been told that you get better mileage after about 50k miles. I set the cruise on 70 the other day coming about 35 miles home on the highway with moderate hills. I averaged 19.9. I have been checking the average since filling up and running around town and even sitting idleing for probably an hour overall and I got 17 for the tank of gas.
