April 14, 2006Ok here goes. Ive got a couple of things to bring up really. First I had a problem with my truck engine before I got my k&n intake. On a cold morning my truck would after being started for awhile would kinda shake like it was going to die and then rev up really high and then go back down and settle like it should. After installing the intake it doesnt do that at ALL anymore. It runs just like it should. It seems though that all the intake is really doing for me though is helping my tranny shift faster because im not noticing a boost in acceleration. Is it possible that I need to get lower gears? Im running 285/75/R16 BFG A/Ts. When im driving on the highway and im passing someone I promise my truck doesnt jump when I gun it,it just kinda creeps along. Ive heard alot about Westers tune but dont know if that will benefit my needs any or benefit me at all. What is a Westers tune anyway? Whats it all about? I want my engine to breathe as much as possible. Any suggestions on engine care and any mod recommendations are welcome! Just need a voice or two to guide me in the right path for the sake of my Z.

April 15, 2006the "jump" you seek will require a little more than an intake.
first, if you have a pulley driven fan, get rid of it in favor of an electric fan(s) setup. otherwise a huge jump in throttle will be heald back by your fan (and make a really annoying noise)
second: i HIGHLY reccomend a PCM tune, this will maximize your fuel curves, spark advance and fuel air ratio.
April 15, 2006The PCM is your Powertrain Control Module. It's basically the computer under your hood that controls your powertrain. Wester's Garage is a popular source for one. Search "Westers" in the forums and you'll find plenty of details.
