July 7, 2008Nothng but the leveling kit Im stiil waiting on the rear shocks Ill let u guys know how it ends up.
July 25, 2008how many times do you crank up the t bars to get the truck level?... i know they go up 3" but thats too much. 2" in front with the rear the same?
the truck would be a 2500 hd..not sure if that matters
July 25, 2008looking good. btw, happy bday!
July 26, 2008This is what I did. When I got my truck five yrs ago I was unhappy with the front. I jacked it up and did one *or* two turns at a time on the T bars till it was level. One side I hade to turn like six times and the other was about four. I then wanted to fit bigger tires 305s so when i hered about leveling kits would work for about two inches i looked into them. then i also found add-a-leaf spring would add two inches in the rear. I figured the truck was already level so if I added the two together I could get two inches all around. Well it worked when i put the leveling kit and add-a-leaf I took it to the shop right away to get it aligned and just told them to make sure it was level before they aligned it. Be sure to get longer shocks *or* the extender brackets.
August 13, 2008so let me get this straight... you cranked it in stock form to make it level (1-2") and then you added a "leveling kit" (which is just a bs term for ''cranking'') to add 2 more inches of crank.
So with 3-4" of crank it rides like a cloud?
have any pics of your CVs?
August 13, 2008I think he got new keys for the front. The first page has some CV pics.
August 13, 2008New keys (aka leveling kit) just allow you to crank more than stock. They don’t help the ride at all: cranking = cranking regardless of the keys. The harsh ride comes from increased driveline angles (which is a resultant of height unless you drop the control arm mounts) and from decreased down travel (since you''re not ''lifting'' the truck, just setting the suspesion at it''s max downward position).
I cant see the pics on my work computer…. I''ll have to check em out when I get home.
August 13, 2008Holy wow those are some steep effing CV angles! You''re going to have some serious repair bills down the road.
August 13, 2008Just checked out the pics using my phone and it does look like a good 3 inches of crank. Those driveline angles are horrible and it does not (can not) drive like a so called cloud.
Anyone with mechanical knowledge (and who isn''t trying to steal your money) would advise against doing that to your truck.
And FYI I cranked my keys 1.5 to 2 inches when I first got my truck and said it rode great... Then I came to my senses and stopped kidding myself because the ride absolutely sucked. And my driveline angles weren''t even CLOSE to his. I bet his upper control arms are just about touching the stops
