September 7, 2009My Caddy CTS and my HHR SS both have Mobil-1 emblazoned on the GM oil filler cap, so I use it to maintain warrantee issues, but I don't think it really matters. Syn is a good move in any case, though.
September 8, 2009I think synthetic is the way to go although its pricy. I used conventional oil all my years until about 4 months ago after I blew my engine and thought I would try it. I use Mobil 1.
September 8, 2009Mobil 1 for many years! I think it's worth it
September 8, 2009It is good stuff. However you are wasting your money IMO if you don't run it longer. Synthetics can easily go longer than dino oils.
September 9, 2009use a synth, change out the filter every 4000 or so, top off the oil, go again. I do that 3 times then change it all out
September 23, 2009Any good syn will work. I prefer Pennzoil Platinum, that and a wix oil filter are good for 6,000 miles. I know I could go longer but I want to keep my warranty.
September 23, 2009Mobile 1 Full Synthetic and K&N oil filter and change it when the truck says it is time.
September 24, 2009Castrol is good oil IMO any of them are good royal purple and amsoil are better then normal but not needed and you pay the price for em....i use valvoline maxlife which is a syn blend and it works good for me my moms i use castrol syntec and she goes easily 6,000 with a mobil 1 filter
September 25, 2009If you use Amsoil oil and filters in conjunction with their recommended extended oil change intervals, the cost is actually less.
In addition, yuou are producing 75-80% less waste oil to be dealt with.
I've been doing this with a variety of vehicles for a total of over 200,000 miles and have not had a single oil related problem in all that time.
Yes, I am a registered dealer, but I only do that so I can get a price break on the product, I've never sold retail to anyone else, so I'm not in it trying to make a profit for myself.
September 26, 2009Guys, I just bought a 2001 GMC Z71. It has 138000 miles on it. Can I go ahead and switch over to synthetic? I have heard that you are supposed to do that right after the engine breaks in when it's new. Can I do it now or will i damage anything. Also would it hurt to go ahead and do the tranny, xfer case and rear diff while I'm at it?
