February 7, 2011I have 2003 2500HD 6.0 with the plow prep and HD towing packages . Last i replaced the stock tranny cooler with an aftermarket one from advanced auto which was twice the size of the old one. But with the plow on my tranny temps still go up around 200 which then makes my engine temp start to rise. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem .

February 7, 2011Is this short travel or are you doing highway with the plow on?
The plow stops a great majority of the air from hitting the radiator, thus no cooling, same for the tranny and oil coolers.

February 8, 2011Mainly around town with no more then 10-12 miles driving from place to place. Very little highway . I care the plow low so i can get more air to the radiator.
February 8, 2011Its a common problem with those years trucks. My old boss had a Big block 03 that would overheat. But how hard are you plowing>? My trans never gets too hot unless i am pushing the truck hard. I would think about getting a fluid change soon.
February 8, 2011The trans temp actually goes down when im plowing its weird .I changed the fluid and filter last year when upgraded the cooler
February 8, 2011I believe the plow is just blocking the air into the engine. Maybe some electric fans would be better.
