March 29, 2011has anyone mounted a 5th wheel hitch in a bed with a body lift on it? Ive been looking at it and it just looks like maybe fabbin up some new L brackets that are extended as big as the body lift. Maybe usin some thicker steel for the brackets instead of the original thickness. What are your peoples take on this. Opinions greatly appreciated! Thanks

March 29, 2011You can install an axle flip to get the extra lift on the trailer you need. It`s actually fairly common. I looked into it when looking at a 5th once for my 1500 that was lifted with a 6" and 35" tires. The RV dealer said they`ve done it many times.
Oops, miss read it at first. Not advisable to install a 5th hitch on a body lifted truck. Thats what I`ve been told.
March 30, 2011Wouldn`t see a problem with doing it one of two ones. Like you talked about lift it up off the frame so its right at bottom of the bed, or cut a bigger hole in the bed just big enough to allow the hitch, lock, and chains to fit.
